Portland, OR, USA (Winter/Spring 2024) - SVALT announces the new forth generation DHCR heatsink Cooling Dock
DHCR Cooling Dock
The DHCR Cooling Dock uses silent thermally conductive laptop coupling with a massive heatsink carved from solid aluminum to create the ultimate laptop workstation.
New 4th Gen Features
The new 4th generation DHCR Cooling Dock includes extensive improvements for a substantial increase in cooling efficiency with the latest Apple MacBook Pro and MacBook Air laptops, along with comprehensive optimization for the 2021+ MacBook Pro. The 4th gen’s thermally conductive heatsink silently reduces overall laptop temperatures, while the Fx Cooling Fan boosts peak performance potential for sustained heavy workloads.
- Improved conductive cooling with increased heat transfer from flat-backed laptops like the 2021+ MacBook Pro and 2022+ MacBook Air. This is accomplished with a 6% larger thermally conductive interface for increased surface area, up to 68% thinner laptop coupling plate for increased heat distribution, and available for the first time with the 4th gen, direct metal-to-metal laptop coupling for reduced impedance and unrestricted conductive heat transfer.
- Improved heatsink cooling with increased heat transfer from heatsink to passive/active cooling airflows. This is accomplished with up to 185% deeper and 18% taller cooling fin air channels, up to 52% increased surface area, and up to 846% more continuous and interconnected cooling fin air channels for increased heat flow throughout the heatsink.
- Improved airflow cooling with increased airflow into the 2021+ MacBook Pro’s center air intake vent for direct internal processor cooling, as well as flushing out more hot air away from laptop exhaust vents. This is accomplished with 7x more through-hole openings, a 91% increase in total through-hole open area, and 151% increase in opening width. A 22% smaller front horizontal air channel with 80% deeper curving sides concentrates cooling airflow along the laptop’s bottom edge vents.
Available for the first time with the 4th gen, through-holes extend below the laptop’s bottom edge with a position and angle to guide cooling airflow into the 2021+ MacBook Pro’s center air intake.
Also available for the first time are three new heatsink performance pads that help to manage airflows for improved cooling performance. New performance bottom pads feature 1/8” thickness to create a large underside open air channel for improved heatsink cooling. New performance laptop support pad features 1/8” thickness with a center cutout matching the heatsink’s through-holes for improved cooling airflow into a 2021+ MacBook Pro’s central air intake vent, and features side extensions into the horizontal channel’s curving ends. Both of the new 1/8” thick performance pads are designed to work in conjunction with the new performance insulating side pads that protect the heatsink from a 2021+ MacBook Pro’s hot air exhaust vents.

New Heatsink Models
Portland, Oregon, USA (Summer 2023) - SVALT announces three new thermally conductive heatsink Cooling Docks
Cool by Design
SVALT’s heatsink Cooling Docks use an innovative thermally conductive coupling interface to silently transfer heat from the laptop to a massive heatsink carved from solid aluminum. The heatsink transfers heat to silent passive cooling airflows through numerous air channels and cooling fins that increase heatsink surface area and improve heatsink cooling. In additional to working with silent passive cooling airflows, the heatsinks have been design with angled back air channels that guide fan driven active cooling airflows through a central hole and front air channel to boost heatsink cooling, flush out hot air, and internally cool 2021-2023 MacBook Pro processors. The DHCR and DHC models use a separate Fx Cooling Fan to generate more cooling airflow with less noise, while allowing the heatsinks to be as large as possible for increased thermal storage capacity and cooling surface area. The DHCx uses a built-in fan to provide a more compact and convenient active airflow setup.
SVALT’s heatsink Cooling Docks have been designed to seamlessly merge with built-in cooling systems of the 2021-2023 MacBook Pro and all other Apple laptops from the last decade. The heatsink aligns with processors to extract heat at the heat source, while the heatsink width, front curving air channel and central through-hole supply cool air to the laptop’s center intake and flush out hot exhaust air. The dock’s leaning support allows for a stable and easy clamshell setup by opening the lid with the laptop connected to cables and safely held in a padded cradle. Protective edge pads wrap around all four sides of the thermally conductive interface and a retention pad locks the laptop in place. Heavy heatsink mass and non-slip pads securely support larger laptops like the 16-inch MacBook Pro.

New Pro Models
Portland, Oregon, USA (Late-Summer / Fall 2020) - SVALT announces new Cooling Dock models D2 Pro and D1 Pro.
SVALT is dedicated to making the best performance laptop workstation products in the world for professionals and other demanding users. The Cooling Dock product line was developed to help professionals tame heat buildup, preserve reliability and reclaim performance potential from heat limited closed-screen laptop workstations, and has now been expanded with new next generation D2 Pro and D1 Pro models (Dx). Both models include universal support and active cooling designed for all Mac and PC laptops, with optimization for current generation Mac laptops such as the 16-inch MacBook Pro.
Cooling Performance
The D2 Pro and D1 Pro (Dx) use a passive and active cooling system. The passive cooling system features a 1.8 pound aluminum heat sink located next to laptop processors that absorbs heat through line-of-sight radiant heat transfer. The active cooling system features ten side vents that drive cooling air onto the laptop’s metal enclosure at the processor location and then sends cooling airflow to the sides of the laptop enclosure. The side vents combine with cooling airflow from a lower vent that drives cooling air at the laptop enclosure’s central processor location and then sends air upward along the laptop enclosure. Raised laptop pads direct airflow for optimal cooling, as well as house the D2’s laptop temperature sensor. Pad size is minimized to reduce contact area on the laptop, reduce heat trap and maximize cooling. The managed airflow helps generate more efficient and quieter cooling.
Cooling System
The D2 Pro and D1 Pro (Dx) active cooling systems use a powerful and high-quality 12-volt fan with long life bearing to efficiently generate more cooling airflow with less noise. The D2 cooling system offers multiple user selectable modes, user customization, and an external thermistor to measure laptop enclosure temperatures and automatically adjusts fan speeds. The D2 Pro is available with either a standard D2 cooling system that prioritizes high-speed cooling performance for maximum cooling potential or a D2n cooling system that prioritizes low-speed audio performance for noise critical environments. The D2 cooling system uses a 800-4200 RPM speed range that delivers significant cooling airflow with high noise levels at max-speed. The D2n cooling system uses an ultra quiet Noctua fan with 500-2200 RPM speed range offering quieter operation at overlapping 800-2200 RPM speeds and offering essentially silent operation at lower 500-1200 RPM speeds. The D1 cooling system uses a single speed with balanced cooling and audio performance for simplicity of operation. All three models use a modular cooling system that allows for exchanging cooling systems, as well as easier servicing and maintenance.
Flexible Leaning Clamshell Support
The D2 Pro and D1 Pro models (Dx) use a leaning support system to accommodate a wide range of laptop models and thicknesses, as well as provide for an easier clamshell mode setup process. The laptop can sit safely within the dock’s padded cradle and stay connected to cables when opening the laptop’s display to automatically start current generation Mac laptops or accessing the power button on older generation Mac laptops. This helps to avoid awkward handling and risking a laptop drop. A user installed laptop retention pad locks the laptop in place. The product includes three pads for reinstallation with a different thickness laptop. A top layer of 1/16” padding on the vertical leaning pads is user removable to help accommodate thicker laptops.
Stable Compact Form
The D2 Pro and D1 Pro model’s (Dx) aluminum dock is milled from 6061 aluminum, then anodized to provide exceptional strength and a Made for Mac aesthetic. The dock’s compact pyramid shape with high-density mass increases stability and frees up desktop space. The dock’s dimensions are carefully set to work with Mac laptop vent locations and for support stability. The bottom of the dock includes two threaded holes for securing to a media cart or for workstation theft prevention.

The user installed pad allows customers to custom fit their laptop to the Cooling Dock and lock it in place. Three pads are included to accommodate a different thickness laptop in the future. The Laptop Retention Pad works in conjunction with the Cooling Dock product line’s innovative leaning vertical closed-screen setup to provide increased stability, to support a wide range of laptop thicknesses, and to allow the screen to be opened for easier clamshell model activation while connected to cable and resting within the padded cradle.
New Black Aluminum Anodize Color
The updated D model (DH) is now available with a black aluminum anodized finish. The black body color seeks to aid in heatsink heat exchange as well as heighten the sense of mass when looking at and handling the Dock. The design is about more than laptop cooling, it is also about placing a sculpted object carved from solid metal on your desk. It is an opportunity to interact and hold an elemental object made from only two materials with immense weight and a solid presence. This is an uncommon experience in the modern world, which has brought delight to everyone that has seen and held a model D.
Silent Passive Heatsink Cooling
The D model (DH) uses a massive 3.3 pound aluminum heatsink and air channel with natural air currents to provide silent cooling for current generation Mac laptops, such as the new 16-inch MacBook Pro, as well as bringing universal laptop support and cooling to Mac and PC laptops.
