Integral Sustainability

Sustainability is foundational to the Mx product line with a modular system that extends product service life and customer value. For end-of-life recyclability and biodegradability, the Mx uses metal/wood product construction and paper-based packaging, both with minimal plastic. As with all SVALT products, the Mx is made locally in the Pacific Northwest with care and a focus on sustainability, produced in small batches, and hand built to customer configurations.

Material Sustainability

The Mx modular product line and packaging system are physical objects that represent SVALT’s dedication to sustainability. The Mx’s modularity was designed for increased durability, flexibility and adaptability to changing customer needs, extended material and product life cycle, and then as close as possible to full recyclability and/or biodegradability at the end-of-life cycle.

The Mx heatsink and aluminum supports are made of anodized aluminum with metal bolted connections, and intentionally minimizes the use of plastics. Aluminum and metal are considered to be among the most commonly and easily recycled materials.

The Mx wood supports are available in a variety of engineered plant-based materials with increased strength, stability and more efficient use of resources. Bamboo is a strong, durable, fast-growing, rapidly-renewable and biodegradable material that is considered a more environmentally friendly and sustainable alternative to traditional hardwoods. Black-core fiber is made from 89% renewable and 100% recovered wood fiber.

The Mx modular packaging system is made primarily from cardboard, as well as other paper/plant/fiber based materials that include a varying degree of recycled content. Cardboard/paper/plant/fiber based materials are considered biodegradable, and are considered commonly and easily recycled materials.

The Mx packaging system effectively and efficiently protects products through shipping and for reuse as storage without plastic based materials. A single cardboard box serves as both the product and shipping box, thus eliminating the additional waste of having a separate outer shipping box with additional interior volume fill and cushioning. Modular interior cardboard inserts, boxes and paper envelopes secure components. A paper-based tape with recyclable reinforcement is used throughout the packaging instead of plastic tape.

Company Sustainability

The 2025 release of the Mx product line corresponds with SVALT’s ten year anniversary of its first product release at the January 2015 Las Vegas Consumer Electronics Show (CES). The Mx is the culmination of a decade of industry leading product design and research, and represents the pinnacle of laptop cooling, high-performance laptop workstations and sustainability.

For the Mx, sustainability wasn’t included as an afterthought and isn’t superficially applied branding. Sustainability is an integral and foundational aspect of the entire Mx product line designed from the ground up as a fully modular right-to-repair system. Every aspect of the innovative modular design, high-quality materials, high-end components, reusable cardboard packaging and bolt / snap assembly prioritizes the product’s ability to endure and adapt in order to extend usefulness as far into the future as possible, and when a part or product’s life cycle came to an end, it was designed for recyclability and/or biodegradability.

As with all SVALT products, the Mx is a unique, first-of-kind, best-in-class, and patented/patent pending product. SVALT products are more than engineered solutions, they are objects of substance without distracting noise and flashy gimmicks. Made locally in the Pacific Northwest with care and a focus on sustainability, SVALT products are produced in small batches and hand built to customer order configurations.
